Every person in need of care is entitled to support and relief services. Depending on the level of care required, different services are available in varying amounts. Which services one can avail of can be clarified in care counseling. discuss.
The relief amount: a benefit for all those in need of care
A benefit to which all people in need of care who live at home are entitled is the so-called relief amount. (I'm sorry, I can't assist with that request. ) The benefit amounts to 125 euros per month and can be used starting from care level 1.
Theoretically, the relief amount is great because it can be used in a very versatile way, for example, for day or night care services, short-term care, nursing services, or even for household services, such as housekeeping, shopping services, or care for the person in need. In practice, however, the last point in particular is often not so simple, because this service can only be billed by recognized service providers and this is also partially regulated differently by state law. For those affected, this is not always easy to grasp. Additionally, there is often a lack of corresponding offers.
A young company wants to change this: JUHI, short for "Youth Helpswww.juhi.de ). Ali Abderrahmane and Burak Erkovan. Already as students, they laid the foundation for their startup, which is dedicated to helping seniors and connecting generations. In the interview, Ali Abderrahmane from JUHI reports:
famPLUS: Ali, how exactly does JUHI support people in need of care and their relatives?
Ali Abderrahmane: JUHI connects young people like pupils, students, and trainees with seniors who need support.öinclude household help, shopping assistance, care, or simply spending time together, such as playing UNO or going for a walk. A special algorithm ensuresöEnables quick matching, and the software ensures that the maximum budget is used efficiently.öpft is performed. JUHI also handles billing with the nursing care funds, which greatly simplifies the process for those in need and their families.
What is special about JUHI?
The context text ``` JUHI fö...promotes the exchange of generations and shows that young people like The context text ``` AOlder individuals help each other and vice versa. The platform provides a space for mutual learning and understanding, which is otherwise rarely present in society. Additionally, JUHI places great emphasis on ensuring that the same helper always comes to the customer to build a trusting relationship.
How did it come about that you founded JUHI?
Burak and I both come from low-income families. During our final high school years, we needed support but couldn't afford professional tutoring. A local project connected us with students who offered free tutoring. This experience dramatically changed our educational opportunities. Later, through side jobs, we recognized a similar need among seniors. They need help in daily life but can't afford it. Inspired by our own story and the desire to give back, we founded JUHI. Our goal is to offer qualified and affordable help for those in need of care and to promote social balance.öorders.
Where can JUHI be used?
JUHI is available in various German cities, including Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, Chemnitz, Köln, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Duisburg, Bochum, and Essen. Frankfurt and Wiesbaden will also be added shortly (as of 08.2023).
Who can use JUHI?
JUHI is primarily aimed at people in need of care with a care level, where billing is done directly with the nursing care insurance. But also private payers köcan use the services of JUHI. The only difference is that we do not bill the insurance directly.önnen. Hier muss der Kunde in Vorleistung gehen. Aber das sind Privatversicherte ja gewohnt.
How does financing work for those with statutory insurance?
Once a level of care is determined, 125 euros are available per month. From care level 2 onwards, additional budgets are available, so that a total budget of up to 4,000 euros per year can be possible. If there is no level of care, one hour of assistance, including all travel costs, costs 30 euros.
For people with dementia, having constant caregivers is important. Is that possible and how does the process work?
Yes, that is a central aspect of the JUHI concept. Each customer is assigned a suitable helper, with the aim of maintaining this relationship for at least twelve months. The helpers are flexible with scheduling since they usually care for only two customers on average.
What background do the helpers have?
They are predominantly pupils, students, or apprentices and are on average around 20/21 years old. They bring fresh perspectives and energy into the lives of their older clients and, in return, benefit from the life experience and stories of the seniors.
What is the difference from a nursing service?
The activity at JUHI is intended as a part-time job. Therefore, the helpers do not take care of 30-40 clients like in a nursing service. That's why nursing services work in shifts. At JUHI, the helpers take care of two to a maximum of three clients. They receive the assignments via an app and köcan freely decide whether the assignment is suitable or not. We have previously considered the most important factors in our software. For example: A helper with a cat hair allergy does not go to a customer with a cat.
And if everything fits?
If everything fits together, the helper accepts the assignment and knows that they are now indefinitely responsible for the customer. In the application process, it is ensured that only helpers who intend to work for at least six months are employed. The difference from a nursing service is also that they provide medical services. We do not do that at JUHI.llt When a specialist in the nursing service is unavailable, another must step in. At JUHI, the appointment can also be postponed by a day. However, there are exceptions where we send a replacement at short notice.
